disability care at home

We believe care works best when it feels human

Happiest at Home was founded with a simple and strongly held belief: that the quality of care a person receives depends entirely on the quality of the relationship behind it.

Not on how large the organisation is. Not on how many services are listed on a brochure. On whether the person who turns up at your door is someone you know, trust and feel genuinely comfortable with.

Everything we do is built around that idea.

Happiest at Home was founded with a simple and strongly held belief: that the quality of care a person receives depends entirely on the quality of the relationship behind it.

What makes us different

There is one thing we offer that most care services do not: a dedicated CarePal, matched specifically to you, who turns up for every visit.

Not a rota. Not whoever is available. The same person, consistently, building a relationship over time.

We call them CarePals because that is what they become. Not just a carer who visits, but a familiar, trusted presence who gets to know your routines, your preferences, what makes a good day and what doesn’t.

What that looks like in practice:

  • You meet your CarePal before care starts, via a relaxed meet and greet
  • Your CarePal is chosen based on your needs, personality and what matters most to you
  • Family members can see when your CarePal arrives and leaves, for peace of mind from a distance
  • If something doesn’t feel right, you tell us and we act on it quickly

Who we support

We support a wide range of people across the UK, including:

  • Older adults who want to stay independent at home for as long as possible
  • People living with disabilities, whether physical, learning or cognitive
  • Adults with autism, mental health needs or complex support requirements
  • Individuals recovering from illness, surgery or a hospital stay
  • Children and young people with additional needs
  • Family carers who need regular, reliable respite
  • Case Managers, Court Deputies and Local Authorities building support packages for their clients

We also work with families who are arranging care for a loved one from a distance, and who need to feel confident in who is walking through that door.

How we select our CarePals

We are particular about who joins our team. Character matters as much as experience, sometimes more.

Every CarePal goes through a thorough process before they meet a single client:

  • Enhanced DBS checks, carried out as standard
  • Identity verification and background screening
  • Reference checks, followed up properly
  • Interview and assessment, with a focus on warmth, reliability and how they communicate

We look for people who are genuinely kind. Who are calm under pressure. Who respect the dignity and independence of the people they support. And who understand that being a CarePal is about a relationship, not just a task list.

Our approach to matching

Matching is the most important thing we do. Get it right, and everything else follows. Get it wrong, and no amount of good intentions makes up for it.

When you get in touch, we take time to understand the full picture: support needs, routines, personality, communication style, what’s worked before and what hasn’t. We ask about the things that matter to a real life, not just a care plan.

Then we find a CarePal who fits. We share their profile before anyone meets anyone, so you can see their background, their experience and, just as importantly, who they are as a person. If you want to ask questions before the meet and greet, ask away.

The meet and greet is relaxed and unhurried. Family members are welcome. It is about making sure everyone feels comfortable before anything starts.
