Discussing everyday support with an older parent
Start with what matters to your parent: routines, interests, preferred pace and the activities they would like help with. Ask what they want before deciding on an arrangement.
Everyday support to discuss
Companionship, meal preparation, shopping, practical help at home and agreed outings may be worth discussing. The activities and arrangements are checked for each individual package.
Choice and meeting first
We take time to understand the person’s support needs, interests, routines and communication preferences before sharing suitable CarePal profiles. You help choose whom to meet and meet before support starts. We aim for a dedicated CarePal, or a small consistent team where appropriate, so there is time to build familiarity and trust. The same individual cannot be guaranteed for every visit.
Family can be involved where the person wants this and the arrangements allow it. Share the postcode, proposed hours and planned timing so we can discuss whether CarePal matching is suitable.
Support is subject to individual suitability, agreed arrangements and CarePal availability. Personal-care, medication, children’s support, live-in and specialist requirements need separate review under the current arrangements before anything is agreed. This is planned regular support, not an emergency or immediate-start service.
Our minimum visit is two hours, with a minimum package of six hours per week. There is no upfront matching fee. Payment begins when a suitable CarePal is in place and support starts, in line with your agreement.
